Hornstrandir
The guiding light for the nature reserve of Hornstrandir is to protect a large area with its unique nature and animal life where peace reigns and the infrastructure is not dominant. The goal is to let natural forces reign without human interference with the objective of giving coming generations a chance to enjoy such areas.
Hornstrandastofa – visitor centre for Hornstrandir is located in Ísafjörður at Silfurgata 1, just in the centre of town.
At the visitor centre you can find rangers that can assist you with planning your trip to Hornstrandir and there is also a small exhibition about the life in Hornstrandir.
From June 1st to August 31st the opening hours are from 8:15 to 15:30, Monday to Saturday.
During winter we open the visitor centre for groups whenever possible.
