Hrisey, Reykholahreppur

Hrísey was protected in 1977. It is a grassy island off the coast of Reykhólasveit. The area is closed to traffic from May 1^st – July 15^th for birdlife protection. The nature reserve is included in the protected area of Breiðafjörður in accordance with Act No. 54/1995.

The nature reserve covers an area of 25.7 ha.
